Understanding & Managing Change

 A Quality Workshop from SEDA

Workshop Objective

For the VCS organisation:

By the end of the workshop, the attendee will be more aware of the impact of change on individuals and organisations and be equipped with a number of tools and techniques to manage these impacts positively.

For other organisations:

By the end of the workshop, the attendee will be more aware of the impact of change on individuals and organisations and be equipped with a number of tools and techniques to manage these impacts positively.

Workshop Summary

The workshop covers the major aspects of change management theory and practice. How can change effect people? What are the signs? What can be done to help people with change? How can the organisation stay productive in delivering services whilst grappling with seemingly ceaseless change? These questions and many more are covered in this intensive and interactive one day session.

Workshop Content

The Change Process – a look at how change effects everyone. Using a simple model this demonstrates the journey people must go through to accept and be comfortable with any change. This provides practical pointers as to how people might be helped.

Productivity Challenges – how the change can stifle productivity and innovation and potentially prevent the organisation moving forwards.

Resistance – just how do people resist changes? This section looks at the causes of resistance and how such resistance can be managed.

Tools & Techniques – a number of key messages and tools to help with the change management work. Practical and simple, these tools will help any organisation address change and its impact.

Teaming – a review of the impact of change on team working and how teaming can be strengthened even in the face of rapid and unpredictable changes.

Review & Action Planning – a recap on the key messages of the day and an opportunity for individuals to plan the actions they will take to exploit the new learning.

Workshop Methods

The workshop is based around information provision, understanding and rehearsal. Information is presented in short interactive sessions with discussion and questions actively encouraged. Simple but challenging exercises are used to get attendees using the information to check understanding and to provide a “safe” practice environment.
